Broken. Street Views

While strolling around the streets of my city, I find inspiration for Art in the most unexpected places. Somedays, love is like that too: showing up in an unpredicted way; coming from the ones I least expect…

I am inspired by the people I meet on the street, usually those who are misunderstood. I also am drawn to the Art that is created with spray paint on walls…and on trains. Paul Simon’s lyrics often ring in my mind: “the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls…”

This mixed media painting is created with papers, acrylics, inks, and charcoal. This piece is messy and drippy, and not what you would call pretty. Interesting and thoughtful is a better way to describe it. It is painted on a large 30×30 canvas with a 1.5 inch cradle that has been painted black. It is wired in the back and suitable for hanging unframed.
